Deafinitely Independent provides residential support, personal development, training and recreational and social opportunities to vulnerable deaf adults with a range of additional needs such as learning disabilities, loss of sight or cerebral palsy. Our focus is on providing a safe, caring home for life, and we also open our community to provide shorter-term respite care. We currently have vacancies.
We are based in Leamington Spa in Warwickshire in the Midlands, and our residents come from locations across England.
We opened in 1994 after Sandra Cox searched the country for a home for her son and was unable to find the "home from home” environment she was looking for. She got a group of parents together who had similar problems, to work with an architect, a solicitor and a social worker to provide a home for deaf adults with other disabilities.
Since then we have grown into our present family of up to 19 residents. As a focused independent organisation we keep alive our original passion for being a "home from home" for our residents, whilst committing to professionalism and care of the highest standard. You can see our CQC report, and we fully comply with Charity Commission requirements. Our Trustees have always consisted of both parents and professionals with an interest in nurturing deaf people so they can have as independent a life as possible.
If you are looking for 24-hour residential care for deaf people with learning disabilities in a caring family setting please visit our Social Services page or call us on 01926 337743. We accept referrals from all over the UK.
